Bad idea has a couple meanings. One is that some of my views will get to my coworkers and other acquaintances and affect their opinion of me. I do intend to get into topics not suitable for the office. But I’m moving slowly.
Bad idea also refers to the way people form opinions based on very little information. It’s done with all good intentions. And certainly most of the time, it’s impractical to be diligent. I’m interested in how these things happen. Why is it some people have formed a fundamental distrust of certain institutions such as science, media, religion, banks, courts or government? Certainly there are plenty of good reasons for that. But too often the distrust is applied too generally.
